The way indians were treated

I have known about things that happened to the Native Americans for a long time. I am from Oklahoma and that is where the Trail of Tears happened also I have Choctaw in me. The only thing I didn't know about was the boarding schools. I don't understand why Native Americans were treated the way they were just because of their skin just like the African Americans. The article we read about Indians having Aids I never thought about Native Americans having that infection I know any one can get it but I never thought about it that way.
The speeches we read about standing bear and chief Joseph are really sad. Native Americans didn't have any rights just because the color of their skin. It makes me sad to think about the way the Native Americans were treated. I wish people wouldn't be racists, then maybe we wouldn't have the horrible history we have about  Native Americans and African Americans. I don't think it was right the way the white man tried to change the way Indians dressed and spoke.

  1. Shelly, it is awesome that you have learned about the Native Americans in Native American territory. I agree that our history of racism is very sad, I hope that we can keep changing it for the positive. Thanks for sharing.
