I am a survivor

Dear Editor,
I am a survivor from the Triangle Shirtwaist fire. I am writing this so that you know what happened in that building on that tragic day. It was another ordinary day to work on the 9th floor. Everything was noisy and loud as usual. I sit in my station to get ready for work. My friend Rose, who always sits besides me, told me about her adventure yesterday. We're both 15 so we get along very well. We start working and the time goes by slowly, it's 10am now.
Someone across the room yells "fire!" Everyone scatters around the room to get to the nearest exit. The fire downstairs has blown out the windows from the 8th floor and melted the metal fire escape staircase. there was a fire exit on the north side of the room, but it was locked. Everyone panicked and tried to squeeze through the main entree door. although it could only fit one person at a time to make sure no one stole fabric from the factory. The elevator was small and could only take a hand full of people down at a time. It only came back up twice, I was on the second ride down because I had to look for my friend Rose with her sister because she was missing and hadn't been seen leave the floor yet. The smoke was overwhelming and her sister and I could no longer take the smoke for we were being suffocated and went to the elevator before it went down for the last time.
When we ran out of the lobby to get outside, we saw dead bodies on the floor from the women who jumped from the 9th floor. We took a quick glance at them but none of them appeared to be Rose. I noticed Rose's sister looking up crying. I look up to see Rose standing on the window making a prayer to God. She then jumped. I shut my eyes really tight because I couldn't bear to see the death on my dear friend. I hear a thud and running footsteps. Rose's sister had run up to her sister's body and cradled her. Shortly after the firemen and firetrucks came and took us to the hospital, then to the police station to be questioned.
